William R. Berg, P.G.

Hydrogeologist

Bill Berg joined Martin and Wood in July of 2005. He has been working in the surface and ground water fields since 1997. Bill has technical expertise in water supply and water rights, environmental remediation, mining, solid waste, and power sector projects. His past work has included the evaluation and design of remedial alternatives including air sparge, pump and treat, and natural attenuation through evaluation of biodegradation and redox parameters. He has extensive experience in the design, implementation, and management of hydrogeological field investigation programs including the design and construction observation of shallow monitoring and observation wells along with water quality sampling, analysis, and interpretation. Bill’s work has included the design and permitting of coal bed methane (CBM) water discharge systems in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming. He has experience in the evaluation of potential coal bed methane well impacts to water wells, and has conducted field sampling of surface water and coal bed methane water outfalls in coordination with geochemical evaluations.

His computer modeling experience includes three-dimensional finite difference ground water flow modeling for the evaluation of well depletion effects on surface water stream systems and contaminant migration pathways and the design of ground water remediation schemes. In addition, his experience includes two-dimensional finite element ground water modeling for water management structure performance assessments, prediction of solution movement through crushed ore heaps, and ground water remediation and protection. He also has extensive experience with ground water background and comparative statistical analyses.
